Today
1979 – my first etching at the Dove, same trees that are in the photo above, added to a plate made 3 years before while learning to etch in Salzburg
Butleigh meets Austria – under the same sun.
A photographer from the Western Daily Press called by the other day. He had seen my Venice photo etchings a couple of years ago and wanted to put together a piece on Venice for the weekend supplement. So I posed here and there in the studio, got out work by Robin Frood and Nelson Kishi as well as my own, asked the Lonesome Dove group to line up in Magdalene Close with their instruments on an incredibly windy day (the Lonesome Doves play the Venice Nocturnes piece that was inspired by Kishi’s wonderful Notturni Veneziani book – have a look at Codex Venezia website)
Here are some of the photos from the magazine. I’m putting them here so I can find them in future – these things come and go and I don’t really know what it’s all about, but I like it, even though posed. I haven’t given the link because it brings up just about the whole Western Daily Press plus adverts, annoyingly.
