wild weaving at the abcdWild Weaving at the ABCD meeting, 6.4.2013

Sometimes the things we do in the ABCD book club can look a bit like playgroup offerings: after all, play is a way for the work to develop. It is interesting how inspiring an exercise like this can be, especially if it hadn’t occurred to you to string up a piece of card and weave anything, anyhow, into it. There is a Japanese weaving movement called Saori based on this principle: you weave your stories and your life into the work. Judith Staines came across an exhibition of Saori in Fukuoka last year, and met the women who started the movement, which is now global.
